Summary of Position:

Alcon is looking to hire a Sr. Package Engineer II to join our Product Design and Development Team in Fort Worth, TX. You will be responsible for Designing, development, evaluate, and specify primary/secondary/tertiary packaging for products made at Alcon as well as author, review, approve, and develop technical documents involving packaging and packaging related studies. In addition will identify and implement solutions related to packaging.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Applying mechanical and electrical engineering principles to develop medical devices that meet customer technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements



  • Conducting mathematical modelling to determine if proposed designs are technically feasible



  • Supporting and participating in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototypes In some organizations, may also be involved with designing product specific manufacturing production processes and equipment



  • Design, develop and specify primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging for products as well as conduct testing to support project assignments.



  • Develop protocols, supervise testing (when applicable), author technical reports, resolve quality or technical issues and identify cost reductions/productivity opportunities through use of new technology, package design or machinery.



  • Plan and schedule work activities based on project and operational needs.



  • Coordinate testing activities with Production and QA.



  • Provide recommendations for strategic packaging initiatives



  • Develop personal knowledge and skill, continuously learn, and complete all required training.



  • Share knowledge and experience with co-workers to develop team's overall capability



  • Coordinate work activities with other Package Engineering Team members



  • Adapt schedule to flexible work hours as necessary



  • Interfaces - Coordinate with other departments to accomplish objectives



  • Assist with troubleshooting activities related to product packaging.



  • Work with Marketing and Production on design of packaging.




Key Requirements/Minimum Requirements




  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)



  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English



  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience



  • Work hours: 40 hours



  • Travel Requirements: Up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications/skills Experience:




  • Bachelors in Package Engineering, with 5 - 8 years' experience, of which 3 - 5 years in a cGMP environment



  • CPP Certification
