Description of Work

Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.

Teaching - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching professors support the academic mission of a department through distinguished
teaching, curriculum innovation, mentoring, and professional development. This is a full-time,
non-tenure track faculty position. The candidate's primary focus is excellence in teaching and
student engagement, including:
1. Teaching: Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in civil engineering
with a focus on structural design, analysis, and materials.
2. Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the civil
engineering curriculum, incorporating industry trends and advancements in the field.
3. Research and Scholarship: Engage in scholarly activities related to pedagogy,
curriculum development, or applied research that enhances the teaching mission of the
department.
4. Service: Participate in service activities at the departmental and university levels.
Minimum Experience/Education

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
A Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering (or a related field) is required. Priority will be given to
candidates with demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, professional experience in
civil engineering, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work
collaboratively with colleagues and students.
Necessary Licenses/Certifications
Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred (not required).
