Job Description

GDS Associates, Inc. has an exciting and challenging
opportunity for a Senior Project Manager as part of the system design and
planning team referred to as Hi-Line Engineering. The Senior Project Manager
will have direct contact with clients and will travel to project sites as
needed to meet client needs. This project will be a fully remote position that
will require reporting to the project site 3-5 days per week. This position
will specifically entail providing onsite construction management and leadership
supporting of a large electric undergrounding construction project in the
Florida Panhandle that is expected to last two to three years. In addition, the position may also include development
of project or study plans with economic evaluation, preparing technical
reports, cost analyses, in conjunction with development and giving
presentations. Knowledge of project designs, plans, and specifications are
integral to this position and construction management experience with Federal
Government and DoD US Military projects is a plus.

The Senior Project Manager organizes, directs and controls
highly complex electric utility projects, from concept through design,
specifications, construction and closeout of the project: develops complex
electrical engineering designs, specifications, and cost estimates: prepares
written reports for electric utility maintenance and construction programs
associated with various projects and facilities. The Senior Project Manager
also has responsibility to solicit new work from existing clients, solicit new clients,
and prepare proposal to RFPs. Specific technical task assignments may include:

Develop and prepare plans,
specifications, and cost estimates for projects requiring engineering
capability in the electric utility industry.



  • Scheduled
    numerous construction activities with the electric-utility owner and the
    on-site owner who is also scheduling civil, water, wastewater, and
    building construction.
  • Help to ensure
    construction meets the utilities' materials standards, equipment
    specifications, and operating procedures.
  • Working
    knowledge of overcurrent protection of electrical systems.
  • Work with and
    provide guidance for the utilities' customers for the efficient use of
    electric energy, in establishing utilities service requirements, fault
    current protection, load management and demand control, power factor
    correction, and systems safety and protection schemes.
  • Develop and
    give presentations relating to the construction project, budgeting, and
    scheduling.
Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor of
    Science degree in electrical engineering (with power option or equivalent
    experience). Other engineering degrees will be considered as well if the
    applicant has past experience with construction management of large
    Federal Government or DoD US Military projects.
  • Minimum 12
    years increasingly responsible electric utility engineering and project
    management experience.
  • Registration as
    a professional engineer is desired, but not required


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Knowledge of electrical
    theory, design parameters and applicable codes and regulations as applied
    to electrical utility distribution, transmission, generation, and/or
    telecommunications facilities.
  • Knowledge of
    major utility operations and engineering: data processing engineering
    applications: value engineering and capital investment decision analysis.
  • Ability to work
    independently on major engineering projects concurrently.
  • Ability to
    compose clear and accurate technical reports, communicate with others and
    to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the
    essential job functions: ability to make effective oral presentations;
    using state-of-the-art technologies.
  • Ability to
    negotiate effectively with other departments and outside agents.
  • Ability to
    understand and verbalize contract issues both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to
    create drawings and write specifications, prepare cost estimates, prepare
    construction contracts and request for proposals.
  • Ability to
    supervise and lead project team.
  • Ability to
    delegate, assign tasks to project team.
  • Ability to
    maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned
    duties and responsibilities, which may include sitting for extended
    periods of time and operating assigned office equipment.
  • Ability to
    solicit new work from existing and new clients.

Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $132,000 - $160,000 (annualized USD). The typical salary range for this position is just one component of the firm's total compensation package.
