Position Overview


Primary Purpose of Position
This is a nine-month position in which the incumbent is employed during the academic year. The primary responsibility of the Shuttle Driver is to pick-up and drop-off students, staff and faculty at designated areas around campus. This position will also be responsible for providing transportation services to academic/non-academic departments and athletics.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
Parking and Transportation Services manages the university's parking resources by providing campus access to the campus community, visitors and our guests. We are committed to a safe and orderly parking environment through enforcement of parking rules and regulations. We are a customer service driven department.
Work Hours 5:00pm to 2:00am Monday - Friday
Is this position eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement, consistent with university and state policies. On-site (Employees are primarily in the office and/or have a critical job requirement that requires dedicated office space on-site)
Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies


Required Competency Knowledge - Technical
Duties
1. Obtains, maintains, and applies knowledge of geographical locations on and around campus.
2. Applies a thorough knowledge of campus buildings, department locations and parking regulations to daily assignments.
3. Transports passengers on a pre-determined route and assists with route information as well as boarding and de-boarding
4. Reports to dispatch via radio any route detours or whenever passengers might require assistance of police, medical or other services
5. Maintains daily work sheets and completes accident/incident reports when necessary
6. Maintains other logs and reports as required


Required Competency Safety and Health Compliance
Duties
1. Inspect vehicle to ensure that it is functioning properly at the beginning and end of each shift
2. Follow all traffic laws and posted speed limits
3. Report to dispatch unsafe conditions or road hazards
4. If vehicle develops mechanical difficulties, document the problems and communicate to management
