Boston Medical Center is seeking Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners for its 82-bed behavioral health hospital located in Brockton, MA. BMC Brockton operates as a behavioral health accountable care organization providing cutting edge inpatient treatment and stabilization for individuals experiencing complex mental health and substance use needs. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are a critical part of a multidisciplinary team and possess unique expertise and a focus on providing quality behavioral health care to acute populations.
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are dedicated team members responsible for assisting a variety of patients by evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions and overseeing the development and implementation of treatment plans. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to take care of the mental, emotional or behavioral disorders for patients engaged in services.

Department: Inpatient Psychiatry
Schedule: Full Time, 36 hours, Overnights

Location: Brockton, MA

POSITION SUMMARY:

Boston Medical Center is seeking Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners for its 82-bed behavioral health hospital located in Brockton, MA. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to take care of the mental, emotional or behavioral disorders for patients engaged in services.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:


  • Provide evidence-based evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of patientsincluding prescribing medications and/or other psychotherapeutic interventions
  • Provide treatment either independently or with physician supervision in accordance with Massachusetts regulations
  • Develop treatment plans, measure progress against the plans, and make adjustments as needed
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner
  • Collaborate with a broader team of physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and occupational therapists to assess and adjust treatment plans
  • Coordinate and communicate with case managers, family members and other stakeholders regarding treatment and care
  • Participate in the teaching of students and other trainees
  • Participate in departmental and organizational quality improvement programs

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Master's Degree from a Nurse Practitioner education program (with specialization in mental health) accredited by a Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing-recognized national accreditation body

Experience:

  • Two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or five years of experience in Nursing preferred but candidates who have a strong interest in working with patients who come from underserved populations are encouraged to apply

Licensure:


  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Current valid DEA certificate and MA Controlled Substances certificate or eligibility
  • Buprenorphine waiver required or willingness to acquire waiver

Certification

  • Current advanced practice certification by Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing- approved nationally recognized certifying body

Other Requirements:

  • No Medicare or Medicaid sanctions
