Position description

The Department of Medicine (http://med.ucsd.edu) and the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine (http://

pulmonary.ucsd.edu) at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body and seeks applicants for Project Scientist position(s).

The selected candidate(s) will have an eye to perform studies (and train within the position) with focus on tumor membrane biophysics, and with the collaborative unit that this project encompasses (i.e., including UCSD engineering collaborating laboratory and technical associates), while employing concepts of basic cell biology, tumor biology, in-vivo and ex-vivo modeling, magnetic and electric field modulation, measurements, and integration of advanced microscopy systems.

The selected candidate(s) will train with appropriate supplementary seminars as needed and participate with primary authorship in data synthesis/analysis and publishing of manuscripts.

The selected candidate(s) will also work closely with the laboratory technical research associates in the planning, coordination, and troubleshooting of experiments, while primary study design, data analysis, and interpretation are reviewed under the supervision and leadership of the Principal Investigator.

The selected candidate(s) will teach and mentor postdocs and students in the laboratory.

Appointments will be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Project Scientist level based on background and years of experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have a MD or equivalent, an MD/PhD or PhD in health related fields.

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with at least three years of full time postdoctoral experience are preferred.
