POSITION SUMMARY

Contribute to the smooth and efficient distribution of Columbia Sportswear product by picking up and delivering various products at Columbia Sportswear facilities, including: Employee Store, and local Retail/Outlet stores within the specified market. Driver will also make pick-ups at Vendors and at times deliver to Customers. Driver will also handle special delivery or pick up requests in support of other departments. Represents the Distribution Center and Columbia Sportswear in a courteous and professional manner, in driving as well as in personal contacts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Pickup and deliver (including loading and unloading) various products at Columbia Sportswear facilities and outside vendors within a regional area.
  • Coordinate with other departments as necessary to ensure smooth flow of information and product.
  • Driver is responsible to monitor condition of trucks and will notify appropriate Supervisor/Manager when maintenance or repairs are needed.
  • Frequently lift/carry over 60 pounds.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
  • Must maintain valid Driver's License and suitable driving record.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet all delivery requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

Maintain positive and professional open lines of communication with all Columbia Sportswear staff in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization. Contacts rarely contain confidential information.

Perform other related duties as assigned, including Shipping, Receiving Departments, processing product for stores, or general Warehouse work when not making deliveries, as needed.

  • Experience working in shipping or freight preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Experience driving trucks up to 26 foot van-style truck with lift gate.
  • Must have valid Driver's license and maintain safe driving record.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY

No supervisory responsibilities. May assist in training lower level employees.

JOB SCOPE

Job has a great deal of similarity and regularity in terms of tasks performed. Incumbent follows established departmental practices and procedures, but may exercise judgement regarding routes and/or traffic. Duties are performed with specific directions given and work is checked visually and by paperwork. Decisions are made within specific department guidelines. Errors in judgment or carelessness can create problems with the shipment of product from the Distribution Center or damage to equipment, resulting in delayed product to stores or customer dissatisfaction.

JOB CONDITIONS

Job may require hours that often exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week to complete priority projects and make deliveries during peak season(s). Exposure to Distribution Center machinery/equipment such as conveyor belts, forklifts and loading docks. Exposure to traffic conditions and weather elements during deliveries.
