Job Summary

Housekeeping is responsible for daily housekeeping routines, such as cleaning patient rooms, offices and public areas, while ensuring a safe and risk preventative environment within OSHA and Joint Commission regulations.

Qualifications

Job Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred

Experience: A minimum of six (6) months experience in housekeeping. Preferably in a healthcare setting

Required License/Certifications: Valid driver's license

Work Environment: Clean, well-lit, well-ventilated work area.

Additional Requirements: Must be able to work with limited supervision. May be required to work over time and flexible hours.

This individual must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Diplomacy and discretion are essential. This individual must have the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities. Professional demeanor and appearance is required.

Primary Responsibilities and Job Specifications

1. Perform routine cleaning tasks of patient rooms, offices and public areas as assigned by supervisor.
2. Will vacuum, dust, mop, sweep and take out the trash.
3. Will ensure adequate linens are kept in the facility.
4. Will clean areas with appropriate disinfectant.
5. Will refill supplies (paper products, soap, etc.) as needed.
6. Keep cleaning supplies and equipment safely stored when not in use and away from patient access when in use.
7. Assist Housekeeping Supervisor and Manager as needed.
8. Report any situations which may affect the health and well being of patients or employees.
9. Assist in assuring a safe and risk preventative environment.
10. Comply with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations, Safety and Risk Management Plans and policies and procedures.
11. Use time constructively and in an organized manner to accomplish assigned responsibilities.
12. Address patients, visitors and coworkers in a pleasant and respectful manner.
13. Assist in any emergencies which may arise.
14. Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
15. Attend all mandatory facility in services and staff development activities as scheduled.
16. Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.
17. Support facility wide quality and performance improvement goals and objectives.
18. Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
19. Knowledge of all code procedures.
20. Skill in organizing and prioritizing work loads to meet deadlines.
21. Ability to work as a team player.
22. Ability to accept direction.
23. Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
