OERVIEW: The Substitute Teacher is responsible for when a teacher is absent. A qualified substitute is needed to carry out the educational program. As a substitute teacher, you'll become an integral part of a school's educational team, amplifying your teaching expertise while maximizing the learning experience for students! An ESS substitute teacher assists with classroom instruction in the absence of a regular teacher. This person follows and teaches lesson plans, aids students in understanding subject matter, and ensures that regular classroom routines are followed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
COMPETENCIES Language, Math and Reasoning Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in on and one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Math Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Abilities Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: There are no specific requirements for this position.
