The payroll department supports biweekly payrolls for over 10,000 employees at Baltimore City Public Schools in six different unions. The candidate in this role will be actively involved in the implementation of a new Time & Attendance system. The candidate will collaborate across multiple teams to help research and resolve complex issues. Candidate will be involved in the testing of integrations to and from the HRMS\Payroll system and oversees the usual maintenance due to upgrades or deployment of new functionality. The role will also help coordinate testing with department members and schools. Candidate will collaborate with internal training team to oversee the development and maintenance of training programs and materials.



Essential Functions

  • Guides payroll team through the development of critical test scripts that will be maintained and updated for future upgrades.
  • Assists and ensures systems and integrations are tested thoroughly and issues resolved prior to rollout.
  • Ensures hours are balanced and imported into Payroll system on a bi-weekly basis and as needed for ad hoc and on-demand payroll runs.
  • Guides internal stakeholders on critical functions of the systems.
  • Troubleshoot significant issues for departments and school timekeepers.
  • Ensures the employees and managers timekeeping dashboards are up to date and accurate.
  • Collaborates closely with departments to understand their needs.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders.
  • Point of contact for escalated matters for internal stakeholders.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.



Maximum Salary $92888.00

Minimum Salary $75070.00

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate degree with the equivalent work experience. Degree must be from an accredited college or institution.
  • Must have three plus years of payroll experience (CPP strongly preferred) with a focus on timekeeping and attendance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to oversee confidential information in a professional manner and with discretion.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Curious and willing to learn.
  • Solid organizational skills and a proven ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities.
  • Collaborative and a willingness to roll up sleeves and "get into the weeds."
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in the use of technical computer applications, including MS Office. Highly skilled in the use of Excel, Access and MS Project preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills that ensure effective team building.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills demonstrating a strong customer service orientation.
  • Skills in organizing and prioritizing multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
