POSITION SUMMARY

The principal purpose of the role is to continue to strengthen the organization's Indirect Sourcing expertise and lead a unified approach to sourcing needed products and services that deliver best value to the business. Purpose of the role includes achieving demonstrable and measurable improvements in Indirect sourcing, by reducing costs, improving efficiency and improving supplier performance.

Scope of the role includes: supplier market research, vendor selection, category strategy management, value analysis (price, quality, quantity, time...), negotiation, buying, risk mitigation, supplier relationship management & contract administration.

Key responsibilities:

Responsible for all facets of Indirect Procurement related to Professional Services, including: Consulting, Human Resources, Commercial, and Finance.

  • Conduct in-depth market analysis and opportunity assessments.
  • Benchmark industry best practices in the assigned spend areas and lead the adoption within Zoetis as applicable.
  • Development of category strategy plans. Assure category management, strategic sourcing, and supplier management processes are executed timely and effectively to drive continuous improvement in total cost, supplier performance, and service levels for the assigned spend.
  • Continually evaluate and monitor market conditions and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly.
  • Conduct the sourcing of goods and services necessary for ongoing operations within designated categories.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to agree on supplier selections based on appropriate decision criteria.
  • Work with internal customers to define sourcing strategy, specifications and contract terms.
  • Negotiate and execute high value contracts as defined by company guidelines.
  • Coordinate with Enterprise Policy, Process & Compliance Lead to ensure compliance with relevant Zoetis guidelines and policies.
  • Develop appropriate risk management strategies.
  • Facilitate cross-regional, cross-functional communications regarding procurement activities.
  • Coordinate with other functions and impacted stakeholders to assure timely implementation and compliance with the agreed to sourcing strategies.
  • Execute elements of Zoetis's Supplier Management processes to continuously improve third party performance.
  • Develop supplier governance models and execute ongoing Supplier Management activities.
  • Support internal customers in the resolution of any supplier related quality or service issues.
  • Monitor contracts according to contract management processes.
  • Support Zoetis's supplier diversity program objectives.
  • Approve Purchase Orders as appropriate.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing and executing strategies for key indirect procurement categories, including developing insights, performing analysis, conducting market research & benchmarking activities, uncovering trends, and developing innovative approaches.

Building and fostering relationships with key business partners to influence decisions that advance Zoetis Corporate, Finance, and Procurement goals.

Managing and developing staff.

Conducting and/or overseeing strategic sourcing events (RFx) aimed at managing operating expenses, improving Zoetis margin, or growing revenues.

Instituting supplier management programs with critical and preferred alliance partners.

Evaluating and streamlining Procurement processes to optimize the overall source-to-order cycle.

Acting as Indirect Procurement's diversity champion, growing the program to meet our goals, monitoring and reporting on progress. Representing Zoetis at the various councils/ membership to elevate our presence in the Supplier diversity community.

"Internal Customers"

  • Senior stakeholders in: Finance, HR, and Strategy
  • Primary audience for enhanced relationships are the direct reports of the Zoetis Executive Team ("ZET -1")

"Partners"

  • Procurement colleagues from different disciplines (i.e. - team members within Indirect Procurement)
  • Adjacent Procurement Departments (i.e. - Direct Procurement, the Zoetis Procurement Service Center, Veterinary Medicine R&D Procurement)
  • Finance stakeholders
  • Regional/Site Procurement

"Suppliers"

  • The "Big 4" as well as marquee named consultancies.
  • HR Suppliers that include payroll, recruiting, contingent labor, global mobility, benefits admin, and benefit providers etc.

RESOURCES MANAGED

Supervision

  • Manage 2-3 direct reports. Effectively partner with peers in a matrix-based organization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent. MBA or higher education is a plus.
  • Minimum 15 years professional experience in a Procurement capacity.
  • 10+ years' experience in a large multinational company; pharma experience preferred.
  • Ability to drive transformation and act as a change agent in an international, multi-cultural team and organization.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement systems/processes/trends.
  • Ability to conceptualize complex issues, processes or procedures and reach standardized, best practice solutions.
  • Greenbelt or PMP designations preferred.
  • Experience in assigned spend area in a procurement or operations role required. Deep and broad Indirect Strategic sourcing expertise.
  • Significant experience of performing Strategic Sourcing roles from spend analysis to category strategy creation and procurement category management.
  • Ability to work with management located in other countries and/or time zones.
  • Demonstrable track record of performance in managing complex, cross-functional activities.
  • Ability to travel as needed (< 25%).
  • Fluency in English required.

  • Ariba Sourcing or similar e-Sourcing applications (required)
  • Spend Analytics [data analysis and visualization tools] (preferred)
