What You'll Do:

This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring public relations and communications initiatives - both internal and external - designed to build awareness, drive engagement and strengthen LGE's corporate brand, under the direction of the Communications Manager. As the Communications & Public Relations Specialist, you'll develop, write, review and edit internal and external communications content, exercising quality control to ensure all deliverables follow editorial guidelines and best practices, align with LGE's corporate brand strategy and voice, and meet compliance and regulatory standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in developing and executing integrated strategic communication initiatives
  • Ensure communications meet quality standards while running multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Support processing of requests for information from the media
  • Leverage key contacts and manages relationships to prioritize and qualify media opportunities in national and regional dailies, wires, business periodicals, broadcast media, online/social media outlets and industry trades
  • Collaborate with department subject matter experts to communicate internally about key organizational news, events, and priorities
  • Design and develop communication protocols that educate staff and enhance employee engagement to achieve communication strategy objectives, ensuring a variety of channels are used to support inclusive communication and rich content
  • Collaborate with business units and internal stakeholders to develop and implement public relations strategies to leverage PR value of newsworthy activities to build brand awareness
  • Create written and graphic internal and external communications deliverables including press releases, media alerts, briefings, presentations, speeches, key messages, talking points, fact sheets and other communications documents
  • Review, edit, and proofread written materials produced by business units for style consistency, information accuracy and best practices applications
  • Maintain current knowledge of credit union and community banking industry news and trends, LGE products, solutions, and services, as well as the company's strategic initiatives
  • Using Cision Software and others, research media relationship and placement opportunities, track media mentions and prepare analytics reports
  • Independently identify awareness gaps and proactively develop communications solutions to increase understanding Use the Associated Press Stylebook, LGE brand standards, and regulatory guidance to ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency of communications deliverables for publication
  • Monitors the Credit Union's brand image in internal and external communications vehicles to ensure consistency with our brand image
  • Manages content for the intranet with the goal of keeping employees informed and engaged
  • Adheres to internal communication policies and branding guidelines, ensuring that processes and standards are applied consistently throughout the intranet

Who you are:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, or related area
  • Required: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Required: Working knowledge of AP Style guidelines
  • Required: Minimum 1 year professional public relations and/or communications experience
  • Preferred: Minimum 2 years professional public relations and/or communications experience
  • Preferred: Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent written communication and quality assurance skills
  • Self-starter with strong initiative, ownership and accountability for the brand
  • Ability to cultivate meaningful relationships, collaborate with, and influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Creativity, attention to detail, and skills required for planning, coordinating, and producing effective communication products deliverables
  • Ability to balance multiple demands and perform professionally under pressure
