University of Arkansas - Pulaski Technical College at North Little Rock is an integral part of the Arkansas Technical and Community College System maintained by the State of Arkansas. The college is governed by the University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees and a seven-member Board of Visitors and derives its support largely from student tuition and fees and legislative appropriations.

Summary of Job Duties:*Deliver approved curriculum;
*Monitors each student's progress throughout the course of the day;
*Makes himself/herself available for students' questions and learning needs;
*Exhibits professional behavior and serves as a role model for students;
*Promotes patient and student safety;
*Creates a positive and supportive learning environment, including being an advocate for the student's status as a learner;
*Makes systematic observations and objective judgments about student performance;
*Gives each student timely feedback about his/her performance, providing suggestions for improvement;
*Meets regularly with the Program Director to maintain productive two-way communication between the program and Operating Room personnel;
*Discusses student evaluation with each student's preceptor(s);
*At the end of each rotation, prepares (or supervises the preparation of) a Clinical Evaluation
*Form, documenting the progress of each student;
*At the end of each rotation, discusses the Clinical Evaluation Form with each student, attempting to provide guidance for future performance;
*Provides feedback to the program about current department/hospital policies or changes in practice in the field and makes suggestions for program modifications or improvement;
*Monitors and assures program compliance;
*Be available in person, by phone, or other methods of communication to respond to students in a timely manner as problems arise;
*Maintains current level of knowledge through participation in educational and in-service programs, workshops, and professional affiliations;
*Maintains office hours; and,
*Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
  • Current credential in surgical technology (CST).
  • Must be capable of teaching both the clinical and didactic aspects of the program.
  • Must also meet all regulatory and corporate qualifications.
  • Must have the knowledge and ability to judge student competence.
  • Requires strong attention to details and a positive professional attitude.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Surgical Technologist within the past five years.
  • Post-secondary education experience desired.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
