Department:COM | Internal Med EndoDepartment's Website: Summary of Job Duties:The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking to hire a board-certified/board-eligible clinical endocrinologist with a focus on obesity management, at the assistant or associate professor level. The UAMS Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism is part of the Department of Internal Medicine in the College of Medicine. Clinical faculty attend to the needs of patients with a variety of endocrine and metabolic problems and provide subspecialty training for physicians interested in diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolism. Clinical and research faculty conduct research in bone and mineral metabolism, osteoporosis, thyroid, diabetes, obesity, and lipids. This academically strong Division has a faculty of 8 clinicians, 4 clinical fellows, and 7 basic scientists.The successful candidate's time allocation will be 90% clinical and 10% administrative/faculty development. Specific clinical duties include 7 half-day outpatient clinics divided between obesity and general endocrinology clinics. In addition to the 7 half-day clinics, the new faculty will attend inpatient consults for up to 3 months per year. On-call duties for holidays and weekends are distributed equally among all members of the clinical faculty. On average, the maximum for each physician is 8 weekends and 2 major holidays per year. During the month outpatient clinics, the afternoon clinic will be cancelled allowing ample time to see consults with the fellows. The endocrinology outpatient clinics are staffed by dedicated nurses and medical assistants, one physician assistant, one advanced practitioner nurse, and a dietician/diabetes educator. The obesity clinic has a dedicated advanced practitioner nurse and a dietician. Please note that UAMS uses the EPIC/MyChart electronic record system. Qualifications:
