Job Summary Highly motivated candidates with expertise in smart cities, sustainability, and resiliency, who will contribute meaningfully to the success of teaching, research, and service activities, are sought. Candidates are expected to have an earned doctorate or be ABD in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or another closely related field, at the time of appointment. Clear evidence of the potential for teaching excellence is essential. While all areas of civil and environmental engineering will be considered, expertise is preferred in sustainability and resiliency, sustainable water resources, hydrology and hydraulic, fluid mechanics, smart cities and other relevant specialties complementing our existing strengths in transportation, structural, geotechnical, water resources, and environmental engineering. Civil Engineering faculty are responsible for effectively teaching selected lower-level interdisciplinary engineering courses as well as more advanced courses directly related to their specific area of expertise. The department is housed in the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering, which is dedicated to quality education, scholarship, and service. All faculty are expected to be excellent teachers who are committed to innovative delivery of instruction that results in improved student learning; to using technology, including distance learning, effectively; to participate in service activities; and to engage in a continuous and outcomes-based assessment process.
