Job Description

Are you an experienced JTAC SMEwith demonstrated experience in theexecution of distributed Operational Training (OT), which can encompass warfighters in Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) training environments? Then we have a great opportunity for you to join our growing team inDes Moines, IA!

A week in the life of aJTAC SMEincludes:



  • Planning and execution of all JTAC aspects of ECC operations.
  • Oversee all JTAC centric LVC-OT missions that the DTOC produces.
  • Provide JTAC expertise in support of DTOC mission planning cell.
  • Participate as Event Controller for multiple LVC-OT event types while maintaining focus on Joint Fires events to include:

    • Create scenarios within Environment Generator software
    • Coordinate with NOC personnel for ECC set-up
    • Conduct mission briefing, execution and debriefing and post mission documentation
    • Troubleshoot operations related software and hardware issues


  • Support meetings as DTOC JTAC SME.
  • Advise DTOC Leadership on LVC-OT events and JTAC operations related issues.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and eight (8) to ten (10) years of relevant experience. A combination of education and experience can be used in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience conducting training in a DMO environment
  • Must be currently or previously qualified in a JTAC career field
  • Current or previous Tactical Air Control Party (TACP), Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC), Joint Fires Observer (JFO), or Forward Air Controller (FAC) with current (within the last five (5) years) robust Joint Fires background
  • Current or previous Weapons School Graduate or equivalent Joint Fires program (desired), Joint Fires instructor (required) and minimum five (5) years operational Joint Fires experience.
  • Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance.
