Description

The student worker at the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) will provide essential administrative support and assist with the coordination of meetings and workshops. This role is ideal for a student looking to gain experience in a professional setting while contributing to the smooth operation of an environment providing professional development events and training workshops. The student worker will be involved in a variety of tasks, ranging from managing the CTL library to assisting with content creation for workshops.

General Administrative Support includes:



  • Manage the CTL library, including adding new books, following up on long checkouts, and organizing materials.
  • Answer the CTL phone and direct inquiries appropriately.
  • Make copies and assist with document preparation.
  • Collaborate with the IDEAL intern on various tasks.
  • Retrieve mail for the CTL and Provost Office.
  • Contribute to workspace tidiness and cleanliness.
  • Stock supplies, maintain an updated list, and ensure the office is well-supplied.
  • Assist with content creation for workshops and communication efforts, including social media and newsletter contributions.
  • Manage birthday and celebration lists, ensuring timely recognition of special occasions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Meeting Host Support includes:



  • Support calendar and scheduling, setting up sessions as needed.
  • Order food for meetings and events, accept deliveries, assist with setup and breakdown.
  • Confirm dates, locations, and setup needs with facilitators for upcoming sessions.
  • Create and organize documents and supplies for events.
  • Assist with content creation for workshops and communications related to meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills



  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with faculty, staff, and external vendors.
  • Organization: Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: A high level of attention to detail in managing documents, supplies, and event logistics.
  • Technology Proficiency: Basic proficiency with common office software (e.g., Google Workspace, Canva) and willingness to learn new tools as needed.
  • Customer Service: A welcoming and helpful attitude, with a focus on serving the needs of faculty and staff in a professional environment.
  • Initiative: Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and take initiative in completing tasks.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and take on new tasks as needed.


May be eligible for Federal Work Study.
