Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The College of Science and Engineering Academic Resource Center seeks a temporary academic advisor who will provide academic advising and support to undergraduate students during the academic year. The advising caseload will be determined based on number of hours worked (range is 10-29 hours per week). This position will support undergraduate students in the College of Science and Engineering and will be expected to provide accurate curricular and policy information to assist in short-term and long-term academic program planning and career goal clarification. This position will be working with all students served by the College of Science and Engineering Academic Resource Center, including transfer, military-affiliated, and pre-health students.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Master's degree or bachelor's degree with 18 hours of discipline-focused master level course work
  • Experience in university/college setting
  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, problem solving, effective organizational skills, and detail orientation
  • Must exhibit cultural competence and possess a broad understanding of student academic, developmental, and social needs

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Academic Advising experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of student development theory, advising strategies, and best practices to support student success initiatives in a university/college environment

Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment.
