Production Test Specialist

Summary of position:

Performs the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies. Determines and may develop test specifications, methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings and diagrams. Tests and troubleshoots assemblies and/or final systems. May complete rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing. Prepares technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems. May assist in the selection and set-up of specialized test equipment.

Essential functions and duties:



  • Perform product inspections and testing per internal, customer, and industry requirements as assigned based on training and experience.
  • Records and maintains logs of type and number of defects.
  • Records inspection results on inspection check sheets and inspection test plans.
  • Prepares NCR's and document defects in accordance with facility requirements.
  • Perform reviews of results of outside process results vs. drawing requirements before releasing parts for continued production.
  • Separate rejected parts and assemblies and identifies defect locations on the assembly.
  • Performs audits and familiarizes employees with established processes, policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Communicates findings with production team members, engineers, management and customers.
  • Determine and may assist in developing methods and procedures for quality assurance and control.



Non-essential functions and duties:



  • Initiate and participate in continuous improvement processes.


  • Follows the safety procedures of the organization.
  • Follows the 5S procedures for department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

  • High School degree or GED
  • Minimum of 6+years of quality experience
  • Work requires a good command of the English language
  • Read and understand drawings and schematics
  • Requires excellent attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of measurement instruments and tools.
  • Must have advanced computer skills and knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)


  • Requires good time management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and standard.
  • Ability to read and understand customer specifications.



Language skills:



  • Ability to read and interpret training documents, safety rules, procedural documents, and blueprints.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and purchase order requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written.



Reasoning ability:



  • The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to make good decisions
