Position Summary

The College of Education and Human Sciences (COEHS) seeks applicants for a full-time Program Coordinator position to support the Research Office Post-Award Team. The Research Office mission is to support faculty, students and staff as they engage in research and scholarly activities. As a College, we are committed to improving educational and health outcomes within New Mexico, while informing theory, practice, and future research. The Research Office provides comprehensive and intentional support to all our research stakeholders across the College as they seek internal and external funds. This includes support with early stage idea generation, identifying potential funders, networking across the College and campus for interdisciplinary collaborations, as well as including proposal development, editing, budget development and proposal review. Beyond pre-award support, the Office also supports researchers post-award with managing fiscal, purchasing and hiring needs of the funded project.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for:

  • Provide specialized administrative support within the COEHS Research Office Post-Award team
  • Serves as the main point of contact concerning administrative and HR functions for the Research Office.
  • Assist with purchasing (e.g., LoboMart, PCard) and reconciling for contract and grant funded projects and program.
  • Coordinates the development and distribution of materials, reports, and communications to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports and/or project summaries.
  • Tracking requests from the grant personnel for record keeping and transparency.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
  • Prior experience working on contracts and grants or research administrative functions.
  • Experience working in HR
