JOB SUMMARY |
The Maintenance Supervisor directs the repair and maintenance of existing equipment and grounds and directs activities in new equipment installations and grounds modification. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for all activities that occur in the Maintenance department and maintenance-related activities throughout the plant including coordinating task lists for and facilitating annual shut down. The Maintenance Supervisor will be the first point of contact for the plant in relation to building or equipment issues, and therefore must be available to the business 24 hours/day. The Maintenance Supervisor will also be an emergency contact for the Facility and is expected to work as an emergency coordinator with emergency services. |
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Leads a team of direct reports and accountable for all on-site facility & maintenance contractors.
- Directs the maintenance repair of plant equipment, machines, buildings and grounds and manages the work order system.
- Maintains all necessary maintenance records and prepares required reports to monitor productivity, OEE, and PM effectiveness. Drive improvement.
- Collaborate with Technical Department Engineers, Production Supervisors, Team Members, and others.
- Contracts with outside vendors for equipment repairs and abnormal maintenance. Assures that all contractors are trained in safety matters and that insurance certificates are on file.
- Develops and controls budget for all maintenance areas. Forecasts maintenance plan (personnel, equipment and space requirements).
- Maintains a preventive maintenance program for machines, equipment, buildings and grounds. Must maintain PM records for all equipment and recommend changes to improve OEE based on trends.
- Establishes an adequate inventory of replacement and repair parts for equipment and machines. Oversees procurement of necessary parts.
- Participate in establishing, maintaining and training an effective plant emergency organization.
- Responsible for the hiring of maintenance personnel. Evaluates new employees and oversees the training of new employees, apprentices and trainees.
- Assists in training and development maintenance personnel. Ensures training in safety procedures and ensures safe work practices are adhered to.
- Completes annual performance reviews and monitors performance of personnel.
- Assist and partner with business leaders on implementation of process improvement (Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing), including leading change initiatives, planning, and facilitation.
- Stays up to date with "state of the art" equipment, software and maintenance techniques.
- Participates in understanding and adhering to OSHA and EPA regulations. Makes sure that equipment and processes meet all requirements. Initiates safety review on all new processes and/or equipment.
- Comply with Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Lead critical equipment assessment surveys, TPM events and participate in kaizen events.
- The role will require the individual to be able to work closely with the team and contractors which may require climbing ladders, working in tight and confined spaces, operate cranes and material handling equipment and some physical activity.
- The role will have flexible work arrangements where at times it may be required to occasionally work off-shift to support the maintenance activities around the production schedule.

S/he must be thoroughly knowledgeable of all processes, procedures and instructions that are applicable in his/her respective department. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
Required Education / Experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5 years of experience in a Manufacturing Environment
- 3-5 years of prior supervision experience
Preferred Education / Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Operations Management or Engineering
- Experience working in a union environment is highly preferred
- Progressively responsible experience in a relevant engineered-product environment
- Basic computer skills / literate with Microsoft Office products

Physical Demands Be on the production floor a majority of the time and walk across plant multiple times per day. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand; walk; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus Working Conditions Office and manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works on roof, in precarious places and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. |
