Position Summary:

Sy Syms Casual Staff (TA, Peer Tutor, or Proctor) supports faculty and students by creating opportunities to review class material and improve student performance (TA). As a peer tutor, the casual staff would meet with students one-on-one to help them with coursework. As a proctor, the casual staff would oversee the taking of exams to ensure academic integrity.

Position Responsibilities:

TA
- Prepares and leads weekly recitation sessions
- Prepares practice exams, review booklets, and supplemental lecture materials
- Meets with professors to ensure recitations cover topics discussed during primary lecture sessions
- Assists faculty
- Grades student papers
- Provides student support
- Responds to student questions and emails
Peer Tutor
- Tutors students in various courses according to their qualifications
- 5 hours/week minimum availability
Proctor
- Oversees the taking of exams to ensure academic integrity
TA
- This position will report to the faculty and/or chair of the department and is supervised by the Academic Administrator.
Peer Tutor
- This position will report to and be supervised by the Academic Administrator
Proctor
- This position will report to the professor whose exam is being proctored and is supervised by the Academic Administrator
