The Area Sales Manager promotes and sells oil-less fractional horsepower air compressors and vacuum pumps as OEM components to manufacturers across diverse segments (including, Medical, Automotive, Environmental, and General Manufacturing). The Area Sales Manager develops new business opportunities by leveraging traditional and contemporary prospecting methods and wins new business by successfully applying solution-based selling Best Practices and leveraging our internal support teams.
Responsibilities:
- Achieve sales goals through market penetration and by partnering with internal teams (Product Management, Inside Sales, Application Engineering, etc.) to grow existing accounts and secure new business.
- Actively pursue OEM prospects and leads in the development of new business opportunities.
- Responsible for major pricing negotiations, technical specifications, and toll-gate sales process.
- Develop opportunities to promote the organization to new customers in order to meet strategic growth objectives.
- Maintain updated forecasts and internal CRM reporting.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 3+ years customer-facing sales experience, preferably traveling extensively in the assigned territory.
- 2+ years of experience selling experience or application knowledge of fractional horsepower oil less air compressors and vacuum pumps or similar OEM components such as flow control.
- Market knowledge of the assigned territory (pacific west coast)
Core Competencies:
- Must be able to interface with various customer departments on a technical level, including Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Project Team, and top management.
- Must be skilled at working closely with customers in their development labs and guide pump specification and selection process favorably.
- Possess and/or acquire diaphragm, rotary vane, linear drive, and piston pump technology knowledge.
- Ability to use your technical sales experience in pneumatic circuitry, air preparation components, pneumatic actuators, compressed air dryers, solenoid valves, regenerative blowers, or related products to develop new and existing business.
Preferences:
- Familiarity of the Welch vacuum brand products
- Experience in sales within the lab market highly preferred
- Previous experience inclusive of prospecting, securing, and managing large OEM accounts.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:
- Travel, consisting of 50-75%, is required to fully support the specific region.
The total pay range for this role, including incentive opportunities, is $115,900-$270,500. The total pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Ingersoll Rand, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
