The Genomics Research Core at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School is seeking a Director. The New Jersey Medical School Genomics Research Core is an established facility fully equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation to perform DNA, RNA, and single-cell sequencing. The Core is supported by an outstanding flow cytometry core, a bioinformatics core, and high-performance computing resources. The Genomics Research Core consists of 3 main components, a research genomics laboratory, a CLIA- CAP accredited clinical diagnostics laboratory, and a molecular resource facility. The Director will hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree with 5 or more years of research experience conducting genomics-related research, which should include 2 or more years of experience managing a laboratory. The Director will lead the Genomics Research Core to provide innovative and rapid turn-around sequencing services for basic, translational, and clinical research, to maximize efficient use of Core assets, and expand services to a wider customer base. The Director will work closely with other core facilities to provide integrated services. The Director will also provide expert support for basic, translational, and clinical research projects seeking to understand, diagnose, or treat a variety of inherited and acquired human pathologies.

Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree with 5 or more years of research experience conducting genomics-related research.
2 or more years of experience managing a laboratory.
Practical knowledge using current genomics-related instrumentation.
Practical knowledge of analyzing genomics-related data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: included, but are not limited to:
* Lead an integrated genomic sequencing group that provides cost-effective, rapid turn-around sequencing services
* Evaluate Genomics Research Core assets relative to current and anticipated services and align assets and services to meet those needs
* Oversee all research sequencing activities
* Oversee clinical diagnostic sequencing activities and optimize diagnostic testing procedures relative to available assets
* Ensure quality control of data generated by the Genomics Research Core
* Increase the number of customers using the Genomics Research Core
* Provide guidance to researchers on their genomics-based research
* Facilitate use and development of cutting-edge methods and technology
* Identify novel technologies to replace outdated instruments and technologies
* Pursue funding to purchase, support, and maintain new and existing instrumentation and operations of the Genomics Research Core
* Work closely with the Bioinformatics Core to facilitate data analyses
* Work closely with other core facility directors to institute best practices and to review workflows and protocols
* Train, consult, and collaborate with faculty and staff
* Properly train and manage technical staff to complete sample processing and data collection in a timely manner
* Manage the Genomics Research Core budget and ensure financial stability
* Set pricing structures for research services, clinical services, and data analysis
* Ensure compliance with governmental agencies and University policies related to the Core, including the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory
* Maintain regulatory approvals for the clinical diagnostic testing laboratories
* Supervise the technical staff of the Genomics Research Core on behalf of the Senior Associate Dean for Research and the Assistant Dean for Research
