The Division of Plastic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School is recruiting a fellowship trained hand surgeon. The fellow will be hired jointly by the VA Hospital at 5/8 time and Rutgers University 3/8 time. The Division currently has six faculty members and an advanced practitioner.
The position's primary hospital is at University Hospital in Newark, NJ, which is affiliated with the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. The University Hospital also partners with the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The Rutgers
NJMS faculty also practice at neighboring hospitals such as the Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. Depending upon the interests and training of the applicant, various clinical practice combinations may be possible. The VA Medical Center is located in East Orange NJ, 3 miles away from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Rutgers faculty engage in teaching medical students and residents, clinical and basic science research, and service to the community.
The division is responsible for education of the Rutgers Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency program with three residents per year. The candidate should be comfortable with the wide breadth of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Prospective candidates must have an MD degree and be board certified/eligible in plastic surgery. Fellowship training in hand surgery is preferred. Qualified candidates must be able to obtain New Jersey licensure prior to the start of employment. Please submit a cover letter, CV, and a list of professional references. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
Qualified candidates will have graduated from an approved medical school, (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified/eligible in plastic surgery. Fellowship training in microsurgery and/or hand surgery is preferred. Qualified candidates must be able to obtain New Jersey licensure prior to the start of employment. Applicants should be active participants in national and regional organizations/committees. Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous package of benefits. |
