Posting Summary

A research scientist with a concentration in molecular biology, Next-Generation Sequencing, and Bioinformatics. This individual will be responsible for developing and running protocols for Bionomics Research and Technology Center (BRTC) projects at the level of DNA, RNA and proteins. The job will entail consultation, execution and analysis of a variety of technologies in the genomics and genetics arena.

Provide routine molecular biology support in the Bionomics Research and Technology Center (BRTC). Principal support will be provided for NGS sequencing, qPCR, Sanger sequencing, and bioinformatics for research and clinical sample processing. Individual project management in all of these areas will be a primary task.

Minimum Education and Experience

This position requires a minimum of a PhD in life sciences with detailed experience in molecular biology or genomics arena. Several years of practical bench experience is required. This individual must have experience in basic molecular biology techniques. A qualified candidate will also be able to work independently to solve technological and analytical problems

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent writing and communication skills. Detailed working knowledge of molecular biology reagents and instrumentation is required. Previous experience with molecular biology techniques using DNA, RNA and protein is desirable. Industry experience is also desirable. Favorable consideration will be given to those applicants with three years' experience performing molecular biology experiments including cDNA synthesis, microarrays, SNP genotyping, RT-RCR, dPCR, Sanger/NGS Sequencing, basic cloning, ELISA's, Western Blots, hybridization procedures, and other related assays.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Several years of practical bench experience is required. This individual must have experience in basic molecular biology techniques and should be able to work independently and as a part of a team. They should be able to troubleshoot experimental issues or bring it to supervisor's attention in a timely manner. Job requires handling sophisticated instrumentation, standing for extended periods and might require lifting heavy packages (reagents/equipment up to ~30lbs).
