Job Description

The Opportunity:

The Department of Mathematics at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott is seeking a full-time faculty member to fill an Assistant/Associate Professor of Data Science and Mathematics (Tenure-Track) position in the College of Arts and Sciences. This position primarily focuses on teaching undergraduate courses in Data Science and Mathematics while also contributing significantly to our research initiatives.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction, demonstrate teaching excellence, and engage in research activities, particularly involving undergraduate students, to enrich the academic experience and advance the field of data science. Additionally, the position requires active participation in the Data Science Program, Mathematics Department, and University through service and collaborative initiatives.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field at the time of appointment, with a strong background in both disciplines. Preference will be given to candidates whose research aligns closely with our data science program and who can demonstrate hands-on experience with programming in Python and R, as well as experience with SQL, data mining, predictive modeling, large language models, machine learning, and big data. Experience in dynamical systems, complex network science, or information theory is highly preferred.

Requirements for Appointment at the Associate Level: For appointment at the Associate Professor level, candidates must have tenure at a previous institution, a distinguished record of research, demonstrated teaching excellence, substantial experience in mentorship, and the potential or promise to work on funded research. Experience in leadership within academic settings is preferred.
