Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ, is seeking candidates for an Adjunct Instructor within our Simulation Science, Gaming, and Animation Program. We seek passionate individuals with a unique blend of technical expertise and teaching prowess in mixed-reality production. Responsibilities: Teaching: Deliver engaging instruction in the SIM 450 Mixed Reality course. This course equips students with the skills to create immersive interactive experiences in spatial computing, encompassing virtual and augmented reality. Topics covered include gaze-based control, player movement techniques, and XR-specific UI/UX best practices. Students will develop multiple playable mixed-reality projects. Course Development: Collaborate in designing and updating the course curriculum, ensuring its alignment with industry trends and standards. Mentoring: Guide and mentor students in developing user-based prototypes, fostering their growth as game developers and virtual content creators. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to contribute to the development of immersive real-time experiences and simulations, influencing course design and curricula. QualificationsEducational Background: A degree related to Game Design, Computer Science, 3D Animation, Interactive Media Arts, or Simulation Science is preferred. Industry experience is highly regarded. Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages relevant to interactivity and graphics is essential. Passion for Education: Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, a genuine interest in undergraduate education, and a desire to engage with students. Innovation: Interest in emerging media and the ability to develop new forms of interactive media and story-driven content in areas such as simulations, electronic games, and mixed reality experiences. Location: This position requires on-campus presence. Embry-Riddle is a small, private, residential university located in the picturesque mountains of Arizona.
