The Opportunity:

The Fleet Aircraft Maintenance department at our Daytona Beach campus is currently accepting applications for an Aircraft Maintenance (A&P) Technician.

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician will perform authorized maintenance, preventive maintenance, rebuilding, and alterations and returns to service university aircraft in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturers' requirements, and the highest quality industry standards. Use the methods, techniques, and practices prescribed in the current manufacturer's maintenance manual or instructions to ensure continued airworthiness of aircraft, engines, propellers, and appliances in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations. Oversight provided by management, senior technicians, and mentors to provide ongoing development and progress in pursuit of autonomy of responsibilities to meet ERAU standards.

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician will accomplish Scheduled Maintenance and quickly respond to unscheduled maintenance requirements. Support and assist the Shift Manager in the accomplishment of the overall maintenance effort. Perform unscheduled maintenance on all University aircraft on ERAU flight line including weekends and holidays. Report defective shop equipment or equipment requiring certification to the Shift Manager.

The Aircraft Maintenance Technician will complete all necessary entries in appropriate maintenance forms, work orders, internal inspection forms, malfunction and defect reports, and aircraft logbooks while under supervision. Become thoroughly familiar with the requirements of the FAA approved inspection program, FAA regulations pertaining to aircraft maintenance, airworthiness directives, advisory circular, manufacturers' service bulletins and engineering orders/drawings, as required. Learn to properly document all parts, appliances, and materials used in the maintenance of aircraft. Assist Shift Manager in inventory control functions.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for all levels:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate with no violations.
  • Working knowledge of FAR 145, 91 and 43
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, write information, and complete simple forms
  • Basic PC Software Skills (e.g. spreadsheet, word processing & database etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills

Level 1- Starting pay $25.80 per hour

  • Zero to one year of work-related experience as an A&P required

Level 2- Starting pay $27.90 per hour

  • Two to three years of work-related experience as an A&P required or
  • Zero to one year of work-related experience as an A&P required if the candidate has earned a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Maintenance Science (or similar degree)

Level 3- Starting pay $31.90 per hour

  • Three to five years of work-related experience as an A&P required
  • Repair Station Inspectors (I) designation
  • Supervisory and people management skills preferred

Level 4- Starting pay $37.60 per hour

  • Five or more years of work-related experience as an A&P required
  • Current Repair Station Inspectors (I) designation required
  • A thorough working knowledge of FAR 145, 91 and 43
  • Supervisory and people management skills required
  • Current FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) desired
