BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist Specialist, Registered will complete advanced tests and procedures within the Neurodiagnostic Department. Performs specialized technical work for two or more of the following procedures: standard and specialized EEGs, epilepsy monitoring, sleep studies, nerve conduction and evoked potential procedures, and other physiologic phenomena. Administer technical procedures through appropriate techniques and instrumentation. The Neurodiagnostic Technologist Specialist will work under the close supervision of a physician medical director.

This is an advanced position requiring two (2) or more certifications to complete specialized procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Explain test procedures to patients prior to the studies and provide for psychological needs while in the laboratory to obtain quality test results. Differentiate the quality of procedure and patient cooperation for interpretive analysis.

Perform scoring and long-term monitoring review.

Collaborate with physicians, informing them of patients' psychological status and environmental conditions during procedures for consideration in the physician's interpretation of test results.

Adapt test methods and instrumentation in order to obtain optimal patient results.

Clean, calibrate, and process neurophysiology equipment. Report equipment and supply needs to leadership.

Recognize medically emergent situations and take appropriate actions.

Complete necessary documentation and billing.

Perform limited office, secretarial, and transport duties.

Meet all Patient Family Centered Care standards and patient experience goals.

Mentor Neurodiagnostic Technicians and Neurodiagnostic Technologists and assist leadership with new hire onboarding and training.

May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Five (5) years of neurodiagnostic experience.

Registration in two (2) of the following:



  • Electroencephalographic (R.EEG T.), Evoked Potential (R. EPT.), or Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) certification, or Certification for Long Term Monitoring (CLTM) by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET); or
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) by the Board of Registered Polysomnography Technologists (BRPT); or
  • Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T.) by the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technicians (AAET); or
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited neurodiagnostic program.

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
