Given an expansion of clinical services Rhode Island Hospital the primary academic affiliate of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University is seeking a qualified applicant at the rank of instructor/assistant professor. The department of Radiation Oncology has a three-fold mission: providing the highest quality and safest care to patients educating the next generation of clinicians and medical physicists and advancing medicine through research. The department chair and medical physics division chief seek to further enhance a tightly bound premier physics group of 11 academically-minded medical physicists. Radiation Oncology sees over 1500 consults per year and maintains a daily census of ~ 115 patients. Current equipment at our main campus in Providence includes: Varian TrueBeam STx with ExacTrac an advanced TrueBeam with on-board imaging Varian iX accelerator with on-board imaging Gamma Knife Perfexion Elekta & Varian HDR Brachytherapy ARIA Record & Verify and a 64-slice Siemens CT simulator. A satellite facility located at our East Greenwich Ambulatory Care Center has both an advanced TrueBeam as well as a 64-slice Siemens CT simulator. Treatment planning platforms utilized include: Raystation GammaPlan and Oncentra. Rhode Island Hospital Diagnostic Radiology imaging modalities include state-of-the-art CT MR Angiography and PET imaging. Additional satellite facilities are being planned along with a proton therapy facility. With our CAMPEP-accredited medical physics residency program CAMPEP-accredited medical physics graduate program and Physician residency program physics faculty are expected to participate in teaching and research. We are seeking a board-eligible academic-minded physicist who possesses a strong work ethic creativity and desire for both career growth and mentorship. Protected time and limited start-up research support is available. Meeting attendance and society dues are provided to all physics faculty. Summary: Reports directly to Medical Physicist-in-Chief or Associate Chief Medical Physicist Department of Radiation Oncology for clinical practice and administrative duties and responsibilities. In collaboration with other professional and support staff: establishes adequate protocols to ensure accurate patient dosimetry; measures and characterizes radiation to determine delivered dose; consults with physicians regarding treatment planning; and develops maintains and directs radiotherapy and radiosurgery quality assurance programs. Conducts and participates in departmental research and development projects and in teaching activities for residents and students. Division of workload will be approximately 75% clinical 20% research and teaching and 5% administrative.
