Job Overview:
This position's primary job duties/responsibilities include some or all of the following: fitness floor supervision; conduction of member assessments, screenings and consultations; equipment orientations; member incentive program development and implementation; fitness coaching and program review; providing proactive customer service and professional interaction; accountability for member retention; presenting health/wellness topics. Other duties include but are not limited to serving as Manager on Duty (MOD) for the Pavilion a minimum of once a week or as needed; being knowledgeable of all facility programs, services and activities and promoting them; responding to all emergency situations according to policy and procedure. Personal training duties would require providing small group and/or one-on-one client training and outcomes measurement; knowledge and skills to instruct and train clients with special needs and who may have multiple risk factors that need to be considered when planning an exercise program. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including nights and weekend rotation
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or Health/Fitness field Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) NCCA accredited personal training/fitness instructor certification (includes ACSM, ACE, Cooper Institute, NSCA, etc) or must be certified w/in 6 months Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Computer application skills Exceptional customer service skills Knowledgeable in all aspects of fitness program development 6 months experience related field
Job Responsibilities:
Provides fitness floor coverage, and supervises members during their normal workouts, ensuring the safety of each exercise by correcting form, and that each member is using the proper load for each exercise. Uses time to assist with program and goal attainment, enforcing fitness floor policies and procedures with particular attention to letting members work through when doing multiple sets, putting weights away when done, and cleaning equipment after peak utilization. Serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) for the Pavilion a minimum of once a week or as needed. Administers certain physical tests to a member upon completion of a consultation and after reviewing any recommendations the member's physician may have for their exercise program. Utilizes all of the assessment results gathered to provide the member with an individualized exercise program designed to help the member obtain their goals. Walks the member through the exercise program that was designed to orient members in use of the fitness equipment, and provides knowledge about Pavilion products and services, answer questions about exercise progression and build rapport. Provides a specific focus will on special projects. The focus includes, but is not limited to, incentives and wellness program development, new member onboarding, customer service initiatives, data/outcomes/software and special population/clinical exercise programs. Additional project time is allowed for development of fitness programs, bulletin boards, flyers, newsletter articles, etc. Provides one on one fitness instruction and/or personal training for clients in a professional, effective manner within professional guidelines. Properly instructs an train clients with special needs or who have multiple risk factors in a manner consistent with professional standards. Accurately completes personal training participation paperwork including health history review, informed consent participation waiver, physician consent forms (if required), personal training contract including payment method and gathering appropriate outcomes. Series sales tickets must be collected from members and submitted to the Fitness Supervisor. While training, demonstrates appropriate interpersonal skills while educating, assisting, and encouraging individual clients. Attends mandatory staff meetings including training sessions, monthly staff meetings, and maintains personal training certification, and current CPR certification.
