SUMMARY: The Evening Shift Supv of OR Sterile Processing Operations is a first line supervisor who in collaboration with the Clinical Manager directs care and coordinates resources for a specified unit and performs administrative activities while providing leadership and support to staff. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must have current licensure to practice as a Certified Sterile Processing Technician. CRCST or equivalent required.
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience with demonstrated clinical and leadership skills.
Maintains mandatory skills; remains current in practice and technology; as an active member of IAHCSMM. SUPERVISION: Supervisory responsibility for up to 50 FTEs.

In the role of Specialty Coordinator is responsible for the operational financial and communication efforts as in the performance of: 1.Reviews daily schedule of surgical proceduresassesses patient care needs and assigns staff accordingly. 2. Coordinates with specialty coordinators to support development/implementation of department specific improvements/goals. 3. Ensures that cases start at scheduled time and turnover times are within defined parameters. Provides report to OR Committee. 4. Responsible for efficient utilization of clinical and ancillary staff; monitors overtime and sick time. 5. Participates in development of department operational and capital budgets with specific emphasis on "global" needs of department. 6. Responsible for communicating relevant schedule information with off shift and weekend staff as well as the OR. 7. Verbal/written communication is simpledirectand clear. 8. Meets daily/or as needed with Clinical Manager to communicate daily plan and to discuss issues/needs: i.e. equipment personnel surgeon needs. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS: 1. Ensures equipment is maintained in proper working order and that malfunctioning equipment is removed from use and repaired or replaced. 2. Ensures compliance with departmental and regulatory standards i.e. IAHCSMM JCAHO. 3. Ensures safety checks are done on schedule i.e. crash carts autoclave testing etc. 4. Daily clinical assignment based upon staff level of experience and patient acuity. 5. Assignment of staff to projects/committees to support department strategic and quality plans sand follows through to ensure completion. 6. Investigates and documents concerns regarding personnel. 7. In collaboration with Clinical Managercounselsstaff when requested/indicated and implements disciplinary steps when appropriate. 8. Has input into and/or hires/terminates staff; performs performance reviews for all ancillary staff and has input into clinical staff evaluations. 9. Is responsible for ensuring appropriate timely and accurate use of incident reports collatingreportsand developing a monthly report. 10. Assists with developing/maintaining policy and procedures. 11.Is able torecognize trends and discusses trends with Clinical Manager. 12. Management Commitment is visibleaccessibleand credible builds positive working relationships. Is actively involved in supporting staff i.e. by assisting with room turnovercoffeeand lunch breaks etc. 13. Shift report; timely schedule information sharing.
