Job Overview

In collaboration with BHS team and Protective Services Department, the BHPSO provides safety and security to patients, healthcare workers, and the unit by responding to situations to de-escalate potential escalating and unsafe situations. At the direction of the registered nurse, the BHPSO assists in maintaining a secure and safe environment for our patients, visitors and team members. The BHPSO functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team, under the direction of licensed nursing staff, performing various duties such as (but not limited to): patient escorts into the unit from the Emergency Department, between 10FG and 10HI units, conducts inventory of patient belongings, assistance in escorting patients to seclusion, supporting the proper application of restraints, conducting environmental safety rounds, conducting new admission searches and placing themselves in position to physically protect staff and themselves from acts of aggression. Attends and actively participates in unit-based huddles and debriefings.

Job Requirements

High School Degree or GED in General Studies
CPI Certification or CPI Trainer Certification within first six months of higher
Microsoft Outlook and related office software programs
2-3 years experience
