As a member of the Sustaining Engineering team, you would join other smart, talented, and dedicated engineers that pride themselves in analyzing the most difficult challenges for the launch-test range while developing and delivering solutions to meet the needs of the US Space Force and their customers.

This position is located at (VSFB) Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA.

This position may be eligible for partial telecommuting after initial training period is complete.

Essential Functions

  • Lead resolution technical issues related to radio frequency (RF), communications, information technology (IT), facility and electro-mechanical engineering activity for the Eastern Launch & Test Range (ER) and Western Launch & Test Range (WR) to accomplish objectives and requirements.
  • Guide team members in understanding company vision and principles and work in concert with other engineering and department managers to ensure successful planning and execution of engineering activities.
  • Coordinate lessons learned on technical solutions between the launch ranges with the ER Technical Director.
  • Support engineering skill allocation for projects. Assist engineering managers with hiring qualified personnel.
  • Support all aspects of engineering efforts to support sustainment, maintenance, and operation of the Ranges.
  • Oversee execution and improvements to engineering processes and procedures.
  • Follow standards and management policies.
  • Utilize Microsoft (MS) Project products and resource management data tools to Identify and resolve resource issues and escalation communication to management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in engineering resource prioritization.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and handle escalation and communication to management.
  • Monitor workflow on engineering projects to ensure delivery of products on time in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Prepare and provide progress and status reports, and briefings as required or requested, to inform department and program management of anticipated performance success, issues, improvement initiatives.
  • Provide cost and schedule estimates for various engineering efforts and project proposals.
  • Ensure all Environmental, Health and Safety training requirements are being followed.
  • Interface with managers to ensure compliance with engineering support.
  • Develop/possess an understanding of Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), Space and Missile System Center (SMC) and RGNext policies, procedures, and organizational responsibilities for requirements review, operations planning, scheduling, and mission execution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline
  • Master's Degree in STEM or Engineering Management preferred.
  • Ten or more years of experience in engineering or related field with Launch Test Range Systems (LTRS) to include eight years of leadership experience.
  • Extensive proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Ability to travel frequently between launch ranges (Florida and California); frequency of travel is 30%.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License

The salary range for this role is $104,900 to $167,000; however, RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.
