The laboratory of Prof. Bethea is in search of 2 highly motivated Postdoctoral Associates. The Bethea laboratory works on neuroimmune mechanisms of
CNS injury and repair with the ultimate goal of developing new therapies for chronic pain and other neurodegenerative disorders. These individuals will work with our team in both spinal cord injury and peripheral nerve injury models of chronic pain. They will be responsible for leading independent studies analyzing sex specific mechanisms of chronic pain and investigating therapeutic targets.
These individuals are responsible for planning, conducting and supervising research at a high level, by designing and conducting experiments in a controlled laboratory setting. Using extensive experience and judgment, this role will plan independent research, analyze and interpret data, publish results, represent the university at conferences and meetings, develop new theories and methodologies, and will lead and direct the work of lower-level research staff, while transferring technical expertise
Responsibilities/expectations include but are not limited to:
-Working with
SCI and peripheral nerve injury models.
-Training graduate students * Maintaining transgenic mouse lines critical to experiments.
-Assisting other lab members if time/expertise allows
-Performing behavioral/molecular/biochemical assays independently (including and not limited to von Frey, Hargreaves, acetone testing, RNAseq, immunohistochemistry)
-Writing manuscripts and independent research grants.

Minimum Qualifications |
This position requires Ph.D. in public health or a related field (e.g., epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, etc.). A strong background in quantitative/qualitative methodology, writing, and engagement in self-directed and guided research are required. Ability to meet deadlines and efficiently multitask is also required. |
Desired Qualifications: |
- A minimum of 1 years of postdoctoral experience is desired
- Proficiency with
CNS and/or
PNS injury models, desired.
- Proficiency with behavioral, molecular, and biochemical techniques desired
-Publication record in the field of pain neuroscience, immunology, and or neuroimmunology preferred
-Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively |
Hiring Range |
$61,008 - $95,000 |
