Chair and Professor, Department of Prevention and Community Health
The Milken Institute School of Public Health at The George Washington University (GW) welcomes applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Department of Prevention and Community Health ( PCH). The School is CEPH-accredited with graduate-level research and education programs spanning seven departments: Prevention and Community Health; Biostatistics and Bioinformatics; Environmental and Occupational Health; Epidemiology; Exercise and Nutrition Sciences; Global Health; and Health Policy and Management.
About the Department of PCH: The Department's mission is to teach, conduct research, and engage in community-focused public health practice that produces measurable benefits for individuals, communities, and populations by integrating biological, behavioral, cultural, and sociopolitical aspects of health promotion and disease prevention.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
This Chair position represents an uncommon opportunity to harness the strengths of a diverse faculty representing a broad range of disciplines. The successful candidate will build on the excellence in the Department to extend its transdisciplinary reach, leverage the resources of the University, effectively manage the Department's organizational structure and research operations, as well as mentor junior faculty and students. The Department also occupies a unique position in academic public health education given its location in Washington, D.C. More information about the Department is available online.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications: The Chair must have earned a doctoral or terminal degree (e.g., PhD, MD, DrPH, and/or ScD). The Chair must also be qualified to be tenured in the Department of PCH. Applicants must have achievements commensurate with appointment at the full Professor level, including proven leadership in research and education with a demonstrated commitment to scholarship and an established record of funding support and publications in peer-reviewed journals. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring is also a requirement.
Advertised Salary: $275,000 - $400,000
