A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Nicholas Gaspelin in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri. Both U.S. and international applicants are welcome to apply. The position is initially for two years, with the opportunity for renewal for following years. This position will focus on understanding visual attention with a specific emphasis on attentional capture and visual distraction. These topics will be explored via experiments on human participants using psychophysics, eye tracking, and/or event-related potentials (ERPs). Postdoctoral candidates will be trained on how to use the methods to conduct state-of-the-art research. This position is an excellent opportunity for a student who is looking to become more competitive on the job market for tenure-track faculty positions. Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology and/or cognitive neuroscience. Candidates will be evaluated on: Background in visual attention, with a history of publications on the topic. Quantitative and programming skills (e.g., Matlab and R). Experience with eye tracking and/or ERPs is not necessary, but the applicant should have a strong interest in learning these methods. An ideal applicant would have some beginner-level experience with these methods but would be seeking to improve their understanding of them. Anticipated Hiring Range
