We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Cloud Platform Engineer - IT Advisor within our Cloud Operations group based in Houston, Texas. A successful candidate will ultimately be responsible for:
- Maintaining DevOps pipelines with Azure DevOps for cloud infrastructure and applications
- Building a wide variety of AWS services using Terraform including both IaaS and PaaS services
- Contributing to Terraform modules hosted in the Terraform Cloud private module registry
- Deploying infrastructure using Terraform Cloud to support day-to-day operations
- Take a code first, automation-driven mindset to implement solutions- avoid ClickOps
- Provide guidance on DevOps, Terraform, and AWS to junior engineers
- Provide technical guidance on reading and creating CloudWatch metrics for both technical and non-technical users
- Provisioning AWS account using AWS Account Factory for Terraform
- Troubleshooting AWS cloud networking, VPCs, Transit Gateway, DirectConnect and Route 53
- Understanding of AWS IAM permissions with the ability to troubleshoot access issues
- Implementing AWS Automation Documents across the organization
- Supporting the needs of both technical and non-technical users with ServiceNow ticketing
- Troubleshooting various issues utilizing Athena queries for AWS CloudTrail or Systems Manager Inventory
- Reviewing the AWS Health dashboard to ensure that any upcoming issues or changes are accounted for
- Maintaining automated deployment, monitoring, and scaling solutions to ensure the smooth operation of our cloud-based systems, primarily AWS
- Conducting regular performance assessments and capacity planning to identify and address potential bottlenecks and ensure optimal system performance
- Implementing and maintaining robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems to proactively identify and resolve issues
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Expert proficiency in Terraform, state files, and Terraform modules
- Experience writing Terraform modules
- Proficiency in any DevOps automation toolchain (Azure DevOps, GitHub, GitLab, etc.)
- Proficiency in any Terraform platform (Terraform Cloud, Spacelift, Env0)
- Git
- AWS CLI, Linux
- Command line scripting such as bash or PowerShell
- Understanding of AWS Control Tower
- AWS cloud networking, VPCs, Transit Gateway, and DirectConnect, NACLs, security groups
- AWS IAM
- AWS container services such as ECR, ECS, EKS, Fargate, App Runner, etc.
- Understanding Docker and containerization
- Utilize DevOps pipeline automation using Azure DevOps (Git, YAML Pipelines)
- Developing infrastructure as code using Terraform
- Provide support to both technical and non-technical users
- Developing monitoring, alerting, and scaling for solutions (AWS CloudWatch, EventBridge)
- Communication skills (written and verbal English is a must). Ability to work well with people and assess each customer's individual needs. Need to be able to communicate with people and businesses outside of the organization and company, which may include business stakeholders, vendors, and service providers.
- Strong customer service ethos with experience in change management.
- Excellent organizational skills including accurate records keeping and proper documentation.
- Ability to work independently, self-organize, follow through without reminders, follow up, multi-task, follow processes and policies (including environmental & safety), and act as a contributing member of a team environment.
