Job Summary |
The Auburn University Department of Biological Sciences is seeking a
Teaching Sciences Labs Coordinator. The individual in this position is responsible for teaching, coordinating the Graduate Teaching Assistants, and lectures in our introductory biology for majors program.

Essential Functions |
- Teaching general biology laboratory sections and courses for DBS majors
- Directing the instructional general biology for majors teaching laboratory program
- Supervising, training, and directing general biology for majors support personnel
- Maintaining an up-to-date physical inventory of supplies and equipment
- Ensuring a high level of safety and efficiency in teaching laboratory operations
- Advising on equipment evaluation and selection for teaching laboratory facility requirements
- Coordinating preventative and corrective maintenance for teaching laboratory facilities and equipment
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications |
Level I:Masters degree in Biology or related field with no relevant experience.
Level II:Masters degree in discipline appropriate to position plus two years of experience in coordination of lab operations, procedures, and instruction.
Level III: Masters degree in discipline appropriate to position plus four years of experience in coordination of lab operations, procedures, and instruction.
Substitutions Allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of on year relevant education per year of required experience. |
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities |
Excellent written, speaking, and interpersonal communication skills are required. |
Minimum Technology Skills |
Experience with Canvas learning management system (or similar), plus general computer literacy skills. |

- Experience in teaching at the university level at least at the GTA level
- The ability to coordinate schedules and supervise graduate and undergraduate assistants
