The Department of Physics in the College of Sciences and Mathematics is seeking an
Accountant to manage the finances of the department.

Essential Functions |
- Providing financial reports and budget analysis for the Department Chair
- Managing the contracts and grants post-award accounting for the department's faculty. This will include organizing and maintaining files of awards; monitoring expenditures to make sure they are allowable and conform to the terms of award; assisting faculty on spending policies and procedures; reporting to faculty on their grants; and liaising with COSAM's Associate Dean for Research Office.
- Assisting with contracts and grants specialist from the ADR's office with proposal development as needed.
- Reviewing and approving all financial documents for the department
- Serving as a liaison to the COSAM Business Office and ADR's office.
- Regularly reviewing, investigating, and correcting financial entries for the department.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications |
Level I: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a degree plus a
CPA with no experience.
Level II: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a degree plus a
CPA with two years of experience in accounting services.
Level III: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or degree plus a
CPA with four years of experience in accounting services.
Substitutions Allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one-year relevant education per year of required experience. |
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities |
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Broad knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
