These studies seek to evaluate various novel cancer therapeutic approaches against solid tumors employing different models including cell line xenograft, patient derived xenograft, chemically induced, and GEM tumor models in both immunodeficient and immunoproficient mice. Experiments include single and combined armed efficacy studies, pharmacokinetic/tissue biodistribution studies, and establishment of novel patient derived xenograft models from tumor tissue obtained from ongoing clinical trials. Depending on the experience of the candidate, the primary responsibility of the Specialist will be to either run themselves or aide in the the running of mouse studies. Specific tasks include tumor cell line and patient derived tumor tissue implantation, subcutaneously and/or orthotopically, tumor measurement by calipers, therapeutic dosing (e.g., IP, oral gavage, subcutaneous, tumor device implantation), ear tagging, animal weighing, well being assessment and charting, euthanasia, and blood/solid tissue harvesting. The candidate Specialist will maintain a lab notebook of all scientific activity, be receptive to direction from various laboratory personnel including post-doctoral scholars, scientists, and the PI, learning and applying new scientific techniques and processes, be prepared to present work to the laboratory and PI during meetings, and adhere to laboratory and UCSF regulations.
