Job Description |
Virginia Western Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under the Virginia Community College System, a statewide system of community colleges. The College operates under the policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Virginia Western Community College Local Advisory Board.
Virginia Western is located on a 70-acre campus in southwest Roanoke, VA. The service region of the College includes Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. The College was established in 1966 and has grown from an initial enrollment of 1,352 to its current annual enrollment of over 9,000 students in credit courses and more than 1,400 enrollments in fast-track workforce and continuing education courses
Virginia Western, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for dynamic, adult-learning oriented, exceptional part-time Corporate & Professional Training Adjunct Faculty in the School of Career & Corporate Training (
CCT) to design, develop, and implement innovative, cutting-edge, customized corporate and professional training programs for our diverse clients who are positioned in a cross-sectioning of the economic landscape we serve. |

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. |
KSA's/Required Qualifications |
Bachelors degree required in Adult Education, Business Administration, Business Management, Educational & Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or other related discipline aligned to Corporate & Professional Training.
A minimum of three (3) years in industry training, corporate training, or community college teaching.
Demonstrated history of instructional design and delivery. Demonstrated ability to motivate participants using experiential learning strategies to evoke metacognitive outcomes. Knowledge and ability to use perceptual and emotional forces present in the learning process and the conditions that affect individual learning and change. Knowledge and ability to use theoretical underpinnings to achieve maximum, effective performance and transfer of training. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with participants from a diverse academic, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds. Mastery of adult learning principles. Ability to deliver programmatic offerings on client site. Ability to utilize current technology for design, development, and implementation (
ADDIE) of courses. Demonstrated ability in audience engagement and dynamic presentation skills. Ability to concurrently differentiate instruction. Demonstrated knowledge of corporate, strategic objectives, change management, and the growth mindset. Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning. |
Additional Considerations |
Masters degree in Adult Education, Business Administration, Business Management, Educational & Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or other related discipline aligned to Corporate & Professional Training.
Knowledge of trending developments in related fields of specialization and the ability to retain and infuse said developments into course design and delivery.
Ability to contribute and present innovative ideas and methods for new curricula and programs and the refinement and customization of existing programs. |
