Job Summary

We are seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Activities Assistant / Passenger Vehicle Operator position at the Eastern Loudoun Adult Day Center. In accordance with the general oversight of the designated supervisor, facilitate support for participants at the adult day center. This position provides activity program support including leading small to large groups (indoors and outdoors) programs in crafts, exercise, cognitive and physical games and field trips; assists clients with activities of daily living including dressing, toileting, hygiene, eating meals, drinking and walking; assist with special event support to include furniture set up; transports clients to and from centers; assists clients in boarding/exiting vehicles. Successful candidates should have strong communication skills, be able to work in a team, have excellent customer service skills, and perform well in a dynamic environment.

We are currently hiring for the following location(s):

  • Eastern Loudoun Adult Day Center, Ashburn, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinates client involvement in activities tailored for both small and large groups.
  • Proposes program initiatives following an evaluation of resource materials and client feedback; partners with staff to formulate new program concepts.
  • Provides assistance to clients of the Adult Day Center in managing activities of daily living.
  • Provides support for program activities and special events at the Center.
  • Offers assistance to ADC clients experiencing illness or accidents, following established first aid procedures and universal precautions.
  • Protects the confidentiality of client information, including medical, personal, financial, and other sensitive matters, in both oral and written communications.
  • Transports clients and maintains vehicles in safe and operational condition.
  • Other essential duties related to the specific role and departmental assignment may also be performed as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least on year of experience working directly with older adults.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Personal Care Aide.
  • ServSafe certification

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

  • Must undergo criminal and DMV background checks and complete a pre-employment drug screen before hire.
  • A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required, with driving records subject to annual review to ensure ongoing eligibility.
  • Within three months of employment, an individual must obtain a CDL (Class C with Passenger endorsement) learner's permit, and a full license must be achieved within six months. Must comply with the DOT regulations and Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
  • Additionally, OSHA training regarding bloodborne pathogens is required within 30 days of employment.
  • Complete the necessary training mandated by the County, including e-learning as required.
  • Must provide Sworn Disclosure Statement before hire.
  • TB test is required no earlier than 30 days before or no later than seven days after hire.
  • Within 60 days of hire complete the required PCA (Personal Care Assistant) course.
  • Annual DSS-required training must be completed.
