The Critical Care Transport Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic practices within the guidelines of the protocols for the transport program that are reviewed and agreed on by medical and nursing directors. Assists the team leader in obtaining pertinent pediatric, neonatal and childhood histories, performs physical assessments (neonates through adolescents) and formulates and implements care management plans. Performs necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of a Paramedic. With expertise in the pre-hospital setting, the Paramedic is ensures that while in the out-of-hospital setting, the transport team is working in a safe and secure environment, provides family-centered care to meet family needs, including psychosocial support, education and transfer planning in conjunction with referral staff.

Shift: 12 Hour Night (7pm - 7.30am)

Schedule: Full Time

Job Responsibilities



  • Reports to Medical Control Physician (MCP) and Nursing director of the transport program for the supervision and guidance in expanded role function.
  • Collaborates with MCP as designated for medical supervision concerning the management of individual neonatal and pediatric patients during transport.
  • During transport enters required documentation, computer entries and charges.
  • Collects patient specimens following department/facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies to optimize delivery of patient care and treatment.
  • Assists with patient transport for testing, admission/discharge, inter-facility and aeromedical (per policy of department)
  • Performs 12 lead ECG and places patients on continuous cardiac monitoring.
  • Performs patient phlebotomy following department/facility policies and procedures.
  • Provides wound care according to department clinical practice standards and acts as a resource to physicians and nurses to assist with optimum care.
  • Performs all ADL in collaboration with nurses and physicians to assist with optimum care.
  • Assists with department needs including medical procedures in the NICU/PICU and Emergency Department on request.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements



  • Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience: Two years of practice as a Paramedic. One year previous ALS experience in pre-hospital (911) or inter-facility transport program. Specialty Care Training in pediatrics preferred.
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS and EMT-Paramedic
