Position Summary:
NJIT is seeking applicants for the position of
Proposal Development Specialist to play a crucial role in team building and
securing external funding. The purpose
of the position is to coordinate and lead the writing of mid- to large-scale
proposals, and to ensure first-class proposal submissions through review and
edits of proposals. This position will
be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing grant
proposals, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. The position will work closely with all the
faculty, administration, external collaborators, research administrators, and
play an important role in developing and building NJIT's research portfolio.

Essential Functions:
- Conduct research to identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other sources.
- Evaluate grant guidelines and eligibility criteria to determine alignment with the NJIT mission and programs.
- Facilitate and participate in proposal ideation meetings.
- Be a source of grant development and help to educate principal investigators about grants and advise faculty of opportunities for new grant development initiatives and innovations and provide training and instruction in grant writing and related topics.
- Work closely with principal investigators to write and prepare grant proposals, including detailed narratives, refinements, and supporting documents.
- Ensure that proposals are compelling, well-structured, and tailored to the specific requirements of each grantor.
- Connect investigators with other relevant resources on campus such as community outreach, data management, and diversity and inclusion to support the development of such activities in their proposals.
- Create and deliver workshops, panels, seminars, and information sessions that build grant seeking/writing capabilities.
- Identify needs and develop resources for researchers from different disciplines and for different funding agencies, such as toolkits, templates, or guides.
- Create communications about research development services and successes, such as web content, email campaigns, brochures, and periodic reports, for dissemination through a variety of channels.
- Other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice Provost for Research or the Senior Vice Provost for Research.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in proposal development and/or higher education.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. - At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of relevant experience in proposal development and/or higher education.
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of university personnel.
- Ability to partner effectively with investigators who have different interpersonal styles and work in a wide variety of disciplines.
