Director of Safety

Vaco is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Safety to lead and manage our safety programs across all company operations. The Director of Safety will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive safety policies, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization. This role requires strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of safety management practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety Program Development: Design, implement, and manage company-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses. Identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Training & Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels. Promote continuous safety education and awareness.
  • Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures. Train employees on emergency preparedness and response.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present safety reports to senior management, outlining key metrics, trends, and areas of concern.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the safety team, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, and best practices in safety and health.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
    • Proficient in safety management software and MS Office applications.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Detail-oriented and organized.
    • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;
  • other business and organizational needs.

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
