Ministries is an important program of Stockton Corps that focuses on weekly programs for our community efforts, primarily serving the city of Stockton. SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Purpose of this position: The Salvation Army's Outreach Helper plays a crucial role in supporting the coordination of programs at Stockton Corps and integrating the Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) ministry with existing Corps programs and after-school programs. This individual will work closely with Corps officers, staff, and community partners, fostering a sense of collaboration and shared responsibility. The Ministry Helper will assist in liaising between the Corps, external organizations, and the community to foster collaboration and support for those in need.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Lead Bible studies at the Corps and ARC
  2. Coordinate and facilitate men's fellowship meetings.
  3. Work with Corps officers to plan and implement kids programs.
  4. Assist in conducting recovery groups, celebrate recovery sessions, and other programs at the Corps.
  5. Engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive manner.
  6. Demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion.
  7. Resolve conflicts and communicate effectively with program participants and community members.
  8. Maintain organized records and communication with team members.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS



  1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  2. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  3. Knowledge of recovery principles and practices is a plus.
  4. Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and social services
  5. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask effectively.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and online resources
  7. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  8. Commitment to upholding The Salvation Army's mission and values.
  9. ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and culturally responsive manner.



SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS:



  1. Expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  2. Demonstrates expertise in web resources and navigation.
  3. Lotus Notes, Outlook - helpful



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  1. This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to remain at a desk for periods of up to two hours with minimal interruption.
  2. Ability to operate a keyboard is essential.
  3. Ability to operate under busy working conditions in a rapidly changing work environment with multiple priorities is required.
  4. The employees must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  5. Required to drive TSA vehicle.
