About the Job

The position requires a physical therapy degree with eligibility for Minnesota licensure. An earned DPT is required. Preference will be given to applicants with prior academic experience; a history of scholarly publications, strong inter-personal skills, a team-based philosophy, and commitment and passion for the profession of physical therapy and its ongoing advancement to benefit care provision and patient outcomes for the diverse populations we serve. Candidates should have a demonstrated capacity for academic collaboration.

Clinical or Academic Track faculty position, for the Division of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at the University of Minnesota Medical School. Ability to consider 50-100% FTE options, 12 months.

Qualifications

Job Duties

  • 30% Clinical Education Coordination: Successful candidates will have experience and passion for guiding and mentoring students in the clinical education environment, including integrated and full-time clinical experiences. This position will assist the Director of Clinical Education with possible appointment or growth toward Assistant or Co-DCE positions.
  • 10-20% Teaching and Mentoring: Teaching in the DPT Program and contemporary clinical practice knowledge in physical therapy are expected to meet current DPT program teaching needs. Candidates may contribute to direct teaching and student mentoring in areas of content expertise or program needs such as professional development, as well as coordinating content experts in courses where needs exist.
  • 20% Clinical Precepting or Clinical Practice: Clinical practice in physical therapy (contracted via MPhysicians) is expected to ensure applicants maintain clinical expertise and Board Certification eligibility if relevant through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. An appropriate contract will be established with a clinical partner once candidate expertise is known.
  • 10%-20% Service: All faculty contribute to committee and professional service, faculty governance of the DPT program, as well as the Department, Medical School, and University. Experienced faculty are expected to provide mentorship to junior faculty and provide leadership within the broader University. A particular area of need is co-leadership in Admissions.
  • 10-20% JEDI leadership: The ideal candidate will have passion for and lived experience to support co- leadership in justice, equity, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • 2%-10% Scholarship: The faculty member will contribute to the scholarly mission of the Division, through an active commitment to excellence in a defined area of clinical scholarship. Faculty are expected to have a defined scholarly agenda in their selected area of clinical expertise.
  • Other duties as assigned.
