Description

The Department of Molecular Medicine & Medical Pharmacology is looking for a Lab Assistant to provide technical support in a research laboratory setting. In this role, you will assist with animal research techniques; prepare buffers, chemical agents, and other solutions as defined by specific research protocols. Also, you will be responsible for laboratory equipment maintenance, ordering and receiving, and inventory. Additionally, you will assist with maintenance of mouse colonies according to ARC guidelines; document results. Finally, you will assist with experiments using basic molecular biology techniques, such as Western blot, IHC, RT-PCR experiments, and molecular cloning and also assist with mouse procedures such as tumor implantation and tumor cell injections.

Target hourly rate:$22.02 - $25.90

Qualifications

Required:

  • Knowledge of basic genetics, molecular biology and biochemical principles;
  • Ability to use basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, PCR, etc;
  • Ability to carefully handle mice according to ARC guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate concentrations of solutions as necessary; Ability to organize raw data into a comprehensible form;
  • Ability to maintain laboratory readiness for future experiments;
  • Ability to create and maintain records accurately;
  • Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results; Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and students;
  • Demonstrated computer skills including knowledge of Excel, MS Word; Knowledge of laboratory equipment and survey techniques.
